Marriage is the first and easiest prediction that one imparts into a child. After perhaps half an hour of astrological exposition, every child will be able to foretell any marriage in minutes. Of course, basic astrological arithmetic can be imparted to all kind of people who may have no talent in any mantic art at all.
Mantic talent is therefore quite unnecessary in a practical astrologer, as marriage prediction requires little more mathematical knowledge than counting to ten.
Apart from astrology, only very rare mantic arts can determine the precise moment of marriage. We do not want to be vague in our prediction, since even our florist and butcher can guess the year of the event1. Being an incipient astrologer, we want to know the very second of the event to come, often in order to observe and change it, sometimes even years ahead.
What do we need an astrologer for? We are usually eager for more initiation that just knowing the day of our marriage, something that just about anyone can inform us of. We may calculate all the loves in our life but being unsure we would like to check on our own guesswork. Any astrologer will quickly browse through your incipient calculi along with comments. If marriage calculation requires seconds, all the loves in one's life may take quarter an hour to foretell.
There are situations when one can not know for sure by heart whether e.g. Neptune is above or below the ascendant. Anyone can do synastry by heart, but is seldom sure of the proper latitude. Already calculating a horoscope by heart requires some skill. Many times that 7th house Neptune2 will become a 6th house Neptune, thus avoiding divorce3.
The astrologer usually knows how to bend time, meaning he can help you changing any forthcoming events4. You do not have to go through bad times at all, no mater the directions, progressions and transits. The horoscope serves in order to install positive events in one's life.
Anyone can predict issues in minutes in order to determine the exact year and month of any event. No special talent was even needed for such an elementary operation. Women have divined marriage for women even towards the week of the event. What do we need astrological training for? The astrologer will of course determine the day, hour and minute of the event. If you are satisfied to know the month of your marriage, then you do not need an astrologer, as everyone can do this in minutes. Instructing one how to predict marriage is easy, as every normally rational child can learn it in twenty minutes. The astrologer, nevertheless communicates with the planes in order to change the course of events. This was probably the idea behind the special astrologer-magus tarot card as designed by Aleister Crowley.
In order to become an astrologer, one has to already be a magus. Anyone else would be unqualified to some respect, since it is very hard to imagine or even understand Eris, without meeting her. Of course, Mars, Saturn, Pluto and Eris are difficult evocations, but some sort of contacts with their spiritual guardians in necessary in order to practice astrology.
As said on many an occasion, the astrologer is obviously one who communicates with the planets. Lovers communicate. One can be in possession of a photo, physical dimensions and gossip; but that does not make him a lover. It would be like reading the alleged characteristics of Mars from some astrological menu. Mars surely does not have any routines. In entering Cetus, like in the year 2005, it could have exploded a nuclear submarine; instead, just a tiny part of London underground was blast to pieces. In the year 2009, we hopefully enjoy even a more friendly Mars5. Thus, there is no telling of how Mars will react in an average incipient astrologist.
Surely there are situations when we can tell what will happen with obvious accuracy, which in astrology means determining the event to the minute it is bound to happen. The most skillful will even determine the precise place where the event is bound to happen. Thus, in directing Mars towards Saturn in the third house, we know that a Ferrari will come across a cistern.
The square deal between Saturn and Mars takes seconds to predict. As concern astrological prediction, programs are often obsolete, since the astrologist is faster than any program. Besides, most features of the so-called astrological programs are quite unnecessary, such as obsolete aspects or dozens of house systems.
There is probably a forest of asinine nonsense as packed within most commercial astrological programs that the astrologist will never need. To what end all complications if it takes second in anyone to divine any issue? On the other hand, essential programs that assure astrological success are lacking. Such programs pack a good planetarium, show the 16 eastern ascendants and perform excellent topocentric calculation.
The incipient astrologer is welcome in perusing modern astrological tools like the Academic Zodiac, Precessed Ascendant and universal Cartesian house system, along with the good old approximate divination system. True, having a five years old child divine the precise month of your marriage can hardly be called vague, but for the enthusiasm we put into developing new methods in astrological divination6.

2This calculus needs accuracy in an astrologer. Of course, obsolete house systems are out of question in marriage astrology. How many a divorce was actually enticed by the pseudo-astrologer! The old house systems eventually cracked already towards Oslo latitude, in showing one big house for all planets.
3The astrologer will not suggest divorce, even when the astrological program will set Neptune in the wrong house. The error is in the house system used.
4Even past events can be changed. The astrologer will probably initiate you into do-it-yourself future-changing, so you can help others change their futurities, too. You could do it for them, but it is better to teach than just intervene.
